My research area mainly focuses on the surface modification of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube (MWCNT) based molecularly imprinted polymeric materials. The prepared materials were used for the adsorption and sensing of environmentally toxic and biologically relevant molecules. Multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) is modified by grafting method, which is done by glycidyl methacrylate (GMA), acrylamide, epichlorohydrin etc. The grafted MWCNT upon functionalization and polymerization using molecular imprinting method (MIP). My doctoral thesis also contain the studies of the trace determination of 2, 4, dichlorophenoxyacetic acid in natural water samples and determination of lindane. We extended our research work to develop novel potentiometric sensors from multiwalled carbon nanotube based molecular imprinted polymer for the sensing of different molecule such as dopamine, hemoglobin, monosodium glutamate etc. Another area we are doing is non enzymatic sensing of glucose using graphene oxide based molecular imprinted polymer. We extended our work for the electrochemical detection of folic acid, Congo red molecules etc.
