The following scholarships have been instituted with the view of encouraging students to strive for the best in academic and non-academic arenas.
A scholarship in memory of late The Most Rev. Mar Thoma Dionysius is awarded to the student who scores the highest marks in English in the second year degree examination.
This endowment is instituted by the members of Puthenparampil family. The interest on the fixed deposit of Rs. 20,000/- will be distributed equally among the outgoing final year degree students of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Commerce, English and Economics securing highest marks.
This prize is instituted by Kanianthara Kudumbam in honour of H.G. Job Mar Philoxenos for his services and concern for the college. The amount accrued as interest from Rs. 10,000/- will be awarded annually to the best all rounder of the college.
This prize is instituted in memory of Late Very Rev. Aprem Remban (Rev. Fr. Oommen P. Abraham), former Principal and Head of the Department of Botany. The prize is awarded to the top-scorer in B.Sc. Botany. The amount accrued as interest from Rs. 10,000/- is utilized for it.
This is instituted by Prof. Kurian Thomas (former Head of the Dept. of Zoology) on his retirement. The interest from Rs. 5000/- is given to the best students in the Post-Graduate and Under-Graduate classes of Department of Zoology.
This is instituted by the Department of Physics in memory of late Prof. John C. Kurian and is awarded to the best outgoing B.Sc. (Physics) student who secures the highest marks in the final year degree examination. An amount of Rs. 5,000/- has been donated by the teaching staff of Physics Department, the interest of the amount is to be given to the student.
An amount of Rs. 2,000/- has been donated by the 1998 III DC Economics students. The interest of the amount will be awarded to the student who secures the highest marks in the final year Economics examination.
The scholarship will be awarded to the meritorious students of the college. Those students who secure highest marks in each subject at the Under-Graduate level as well as highest marks in each class at the Under- Graduate and Post-Graduate level will be awarded cash prizes and merit certificates.
This scholarship is instituted by the final year B.Sc. Chemistry students of 2012-2013 batch, in memory of their beloved teacher, Ms. Annie Ninan, Associate Professor of Chemistry, who passed away on 30th August 2012. An amount of Rs. 10,501/- has been deposited as fixed deposit, the interest of which will be awarded to the top-scorer of final year B.Sc. Chemistry with effect from 2013.
This scholarship is instituted by Prof. M.G. Mariamma, former Head of the Department of Mathematics, for the top scorer of final year B.Sc. Mathematics. An amount of Rs. 7500 /- has been deposited as fixed amount and an interest of which will be awarded to the student in every year.
This endowment is instituted by Dr. Jose P. Abraham former faculty member, Dept. of Physics in honour of Rev. Fr. K.A. Abraham, former Manager and Syndicate Member (Kerala University) for his services and concern for the department. The amount accrued as interest from Rs. 20,000/- will be awarded annually to the outgoing student of B.Sc. Physics on the basis of merit-cum-means.
This prize is instituted in memory of H.H. Moran Mar Baselios Marthomas Didymus – I (Former Catholicos of Malankara Orthodox Church and Manager of Mount Tabor Institutions). This is instituted by Dr. Soosy Kuryan (former Principal and HoD of Physics). The interest from Rs. 10,000/- will be given to the best PG Student of the college.
A scholarship of Rs. 2,500/- in memory of Late Prof. Kurian Thomas former HoD of Zoology instituted by his family will be given to the top scorer of Final Year B.Sc. Zoology every year.
This endowment is instituted in memory of H.G. Job Mar Philoxenos who was the former Vice Principal and Head of the Department of English of this college by colleagues, students and well-wishers. The aim and objectives of this endowment include conducting different competitions for students and also felicitating the top-scorers in English.
This endowment is instituted by Prof. Dr. P. Viswanathan Nair, Sreeparvathi Royal Gardens, Mangad, Tirumala P.O., Thiruvananthapuram-695006, former student (1965-67) and faculty member, Department of Chemistry (1981-89) of Stephen’s college as a token of honour to his respected teacher Prof. C.P. Krishna Pillai, former Head, Department of Chemistry (1964-90), St. Stephen’s College, Maloor, Pathanapuram. A sum of Rs. 1,20,000 / – is deposited as fixed deposit in Indian Bank under joint account of the Principal and Head of the Dept. of Chemistry. From its interest a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- is given every year to the student who secures highest marks in the final semester B.Sc. Chemistry examination and has also been declared as passed by the University.
A fixed deposit amount of Rs. 50,000 /- is jointly operated by Principal and faculty members of Chemistry (2013-14), St. Stephen’s College, Pathanapuram in memory of Late Prof. Annie Ninan, Associate Professor, Dept. of Chemistry. The interest from the endowment fund is utilized annually for conducting an inter department quiz competition.
A fixed deposit amount of Rs. 1,10,000 /- is jointly operated by Principal and faculty members of Chemistry (2013-14), St. Stephen’s College, Pathanapuram in memory of Late Dr. Alexander Varghese Vaidyan, Associate Professor, Dept. of Chemistry and his parents Late Mr. K.G. Varghese and Mrs. Kunjannamma Varghese, Palavila Ancy Bhavan, Thevalakkara, Kollam. The interest from the endowment fund shall be utilized annually for cash awards to meritorious final year Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate students in Chemistry.
The Endowment is set up by Ms. Annamma Alex, Ms. Rajani P. George, Dr. Rajan Idicula and Mr. K. Varughese, former faculty members of the Department of Botany on their retirement. The interest of Rs. 10,000/- is given to the top scorer in final year U.G. Botany. Stephen’s College
The Endowment is instituted in memory of Very Rev. C. T. Issac Remban (Mount Tabor Diara, Pathanapuram) by Mr. P. C. Mathew, Retired Senior Superintendent of our College. The interest from Rs. 20,000/- is given as scholarship to the highest scoring student who is the ward of a member of Non- Teaching Staff. In the absence of the ward the scholarship is awarded to the top scorer among Final Year B.A. English Language and Literature students.
The endowment is instituted in memory of Late Dr. Baby K. Paul (Former Principal & Head of the Department of Physics) by his family members. The interest of Rs. 25,000/- will be given as scholarship to the highest scoring economically backward student among first year B.Sc Physics students.
The endowment is instituted in memory of Late Professor P.T. Gabriel (Former Faculty, Department of Physics) by his family members. The interest of Rs.25,000/- is given as scholarship to the top scorer among second year B.Sc Physics students.
The endowment is instituted in memory of Late George Oomman, Melathil House, Pattazhy, by his son, Retired Professor G. Rajan (Former HoD, Department of Physics, St. Stephen’s College, Pathanapuram). The interest of Rs. 10,000/- will be given as scholarship to the top scorer among final year B.Sc. Physics students.
The endowment is instituted by a former faculty member of the Department of Physics. The interest of Rs.10,000/- is given as scholarship to the highest scoring economically backward student in first year M.Sc Physics.
The ever rolling trophy for inter department quiz on “Environmental Issues and Conservation” was instituted by H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius, the Metropolitan of Calcutta Diocese, former faculty member and Research Director, Department of Zoology.
The Scholarship is instituted in memory of Late P.K. Thomas Vaidyan (Former Head of the Department of Physics) by his family. The interest of Rs. 20,000/- is awarded to the top scorer among Second Year B.Sc. Physics students.
The Scholarship is instituted by Mr. Samkutty K. (Chandravil House), former U.D. Clerk of our college in honour of Very Rev. C. I. Geevarghese Remban of Mount Tabor Diara. The interest of Rs. 25,000/- is awarded to the current P.G. topper based on merit – cum – means.
This Endowment is instituted by Dr. Varughese P. Daniel, former student (1976-1978), faculty member of the Department of Chemistry (1984-2014) and also the Principal (2014-2017) of St.Stephen’s College, Pathanapuram, in memory of his father, Late Mr. P.G. Daniel, Plavilayil Puthen Veedu, Kizhavalloor P.O., Konny, Pathanamthitta District. An amount of Rs. 1,000/- is given as charity to an economically backward student from each Department of the college every year. The Principal files the details of the beneficiaries and informs the sponsor every year. Their names will not be announced in the Merit Day function celebrations.
The Lecture is instituted by Mr. Jacob Thomas (Muttatheril House, Avaneeswaram) Former Head of the Department of Physics, in fond memory of Late Very Reverent T.M. Samuel Remban, his mentor and former member of Mount Tabor Diara, Pathanapuram. An amount of Rs. 1,00,000/ is deposited as principal. The interest of the same is utilized every two years for conducting a two-day National Lecture Series on Physics under the auspices of the Department of Physics. The Lecture shall be held in October as part of the Department’s Space Week celebrations. It shall be of academic relevance to the G. and P.G. students of Physics under the University of Kerala. The details of the same shall be filed in the Department and intimated to the institutor. If under any circumstance, the Department fails to conduct the Lecture in its due time, the principal amount shall be refunded to the institutor or his family.
This endowment of Rs. 50,000/- is instituted by Prof. Geetha Annie George, Former Head of the Department of Chemistry in memory of her parents late A.K. George and Susan George, Ayrookuzhiyil. The interest from the deposit is awarded as scholarship annually to one of the best outgoing students of B.Sc. Chemistry on the basis of merit – cum –means.
In addition to the above, State and Central Government Scholarships are provided to meritorious students.
