The Post-Graduate and Research Department of Chemistry at St. Stephen’s College, Pathanapuram, affiliated with the University of Kerala, is a center of excellence dedicated to quality education, scientific research, and innovation. The Department offers the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) in Chemistry, introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), replacing the earlier CBCS system. The FYUGP curriculum provides flexibility, multidisciplinary learning, research exposure, internships, skill development, and multiple entry and exit options, enabling students to shape their academic journeys according to their interests and career aspirations.
PG programme shall extend over a period of two academic years comprising of four semesters, each of 450 hours in 18 weeks duration.

HOW TO GET ADMISSION: We do not admit students directly to all the programs. Students can get their seats through the Centralized Online Admission System by the University of Kerala.
The Department is one of the recognized research centres of the University of Kerala. Currently the research centre has three approved research guides of the University focusing the research supervision on areas such as Phytochemistry, Co-ordination Chemistry, Fabrication of Light-emitting Electrochemical Cells (LECs) and solar cells, Modified Graphene Oxide Based Molecular Imprinted Polymers for Biosensing Applications etc. It provides the required physical and instrumental facilities for the research scholars for doing research.
