I earned my Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the University of Kerala and currently serve as Associate Professor and Research Guide in the Post Graduate and Research Department of Zoology, St. Stephen’s College, Pathanapuram. With over 14 years of teaching experience and 16 years of research experience, my academic journey has been dedicated to understanding and conserving aquatic ecosystems, biodiversity, and environmental health. Prior to joining academia, I worked as Programme Coordinator at the Kerala State Biodiversity Board, contributing to biodiversity documentation and conservation initiatives across Kerala. My research has led to the publication of more than 100 scholarly works, including research papers, books, book chapters, and edited volumes. Notable contributions include the discovery of the new creeping water bug species Heleocoris stephanensis and the identification of a new Myristica Swamp ecosystem in the Western Ghats of Kerala. As a recognized Research Guide under the University of Kerala, I have successfully mentored doctoral scholars and continue to guide research in biodiversity and aquatic ecology. I have been honored with the H.G. Job Mar Philoxenos Best Teacher Award (2024) in recognition of my contributions to teaching and research. Beyond academics, I am an avid naturalist and birdwatcher, with significant field observations including the first report of a leucistic Common Moorhen in Kerala and the occurrence of the Woolly-necked Stork in Thiruvananthapuram city. Through research, teaching, and conservation outreach, I strive to bridge scientific knowledge with environmental stewardship, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of nature among students, researchers, and the wider community.
